Family Fractures

A gripping emotional drama about mental illness, blended families, and the damage love can’t always undo.

When 17-year-old Ethan is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, his once-promising future collapses—and so does the fragile peace in his blended family. His stepmother sees danger. His biological mother sees only guilt. His father is stuck in the middle. And his little sister? She just wants to stop being afraid.

As Ethan spirals into denial and self-destruction, long-buried resentments surface and loyalties are tested. This family isn’t just struggling to survive a diagnosis—they’re fighting to stay together through it.

Told from multiple perspectives, Family Fractures is a heart-wrenching, page-turning novel perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Celeste Ng, and Liane Moriarty.

3 reasons we think you should read this book:

  1. This story promises to show us the struggles of the “what's next” period. Our characters have a diagnosis, they know what has been troubling them, and now they have to figure out how to move forward, which is such a powerful and scary place to be.

  2. I think the dynamics of a blended family are going to be so crucial and important here. So many families are blended, and those dynamics can always be challenging; now we are adding a real roadblock to that structure.

  3. I like that this will be told from multiple perspectives, especially that of the sister. Her view as someone who just wants everyone to be okay will be so interesting and, dare I say, heartbreaking.
